PizzeRizzo Prop in 'The Muppet Show' Special with Sabrina Carpenter
A hidden gem from the now-defunct Muppets Courtyard in Disney's Hollywood Studios has been discovered in the recent revival of 'The Muppet Show' special, which aired on ABC and Disney+ last week. The special, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original show and has received a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, along with widespread fan acclaim.
The first Easter egg spotted was a Muppet Labs sign from MuppetVision 3D, which was posted by X user @Shishagumi, crediting @GIFsofPuppets for the find. This sign is a nod to the fictional PizzeRizzo, a stage doorman for The Muppet Theatre and owner of the Happiness Hotel.
The PizzeRizzo plaque, previously displayed inside PizzeRizzo in the Muppets Courtyard, honored the annual Pizza Eating Contest Hall of Fame. It now hangs on the wall in a scene featuring Pops, the stage doorman, adding a touch of nostalgia for fans.
The Muppets Courtyard, which closed last summer, is being transformed into Monstropolis, a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land with a door vault roller-coaster. However, the Muppets will still be present in Hollywood Studios with the retheme of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, which will remove Aerosmith and incorporate Muppets characters and music.
The 'The Muppet Show' special's success could lead to a full revival of the iconic show. Have you spotted any other Disney Parks Easter eggs in the special? Share your findings on social media.
